Walmart plans to open 200 gas stations in Mexico

The director of Pemex indicated that Exxon also has plans to enter the country.

Petróleos Mexicanos CEO José Antonio González said Monday that the gasoline market will have new competitors in the short term, which will give consumers more options and could even generate a lower price on energy.

Meeting with reporters at Los Pinos Official Presidential Residence, González Anaya said that the US-based Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, plans to open 200 service stations in the country, but did not give details of where they will be located.

Exxon, also an American company, also has plans to open 200 gas stations in the coming months, he added.

The price of diesel and gasoline will change every day from Tuesday, February 21, depending on market conditions and pending the total release of the fuel price throughout the country, a process that will culminate in 2018.
